Driving With Your Wheelchair?!

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of NMEDA. All opinions are 100% mine.

Being wheeled and wanted to drive?? I can never imagine that. Not until I come across NMEDA (National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association).

Well, NMEDA is a non-profit trade association; they educate consumers on buying products from a NMEDA qualified dealer. NMEDA is the only association that promotes safe driving and equipment for disabled people. NMEDA dealers (members) are the ones who sell handicap vans and vehicle modifications for disabled people.

There are Dealers and Quality Assurance Programs (QAP) in NMEDA which is the only nationally recognized accreditation program for the Adaptive Mobility Equipment Industry. It is based on the principle that in order to satisfy customers consistently, companies must have a systematic and documented approach to quality. The program was developed to elevate the level of dealer performance to reliably meet consumers' transportation needs in the safest manner possible.

So, for people that want to drive, always consult a NMEDA mobility equipment dealer who will work closely with a certified driver rehabilitation specialist to determine the proper driving equipment such as electronic control, steering aids, acceleration & braking, full size vans, minivans and pickup trucks, for your needs.

On the other hand, a caregiver, someone who needs to safely transport passengers who use a wheelchair or scooter, also might consider having proper equipment since scooters and power chairs can be heavy and bulky. Proper equipment such as lifts, seating & restraints, full size vans and minivans can help prevent injury to the caregiver and the person he is transporting. Again, always consult a NMEDA mobility equipment dealer to determine the right equipment to meeting your needs.

Definitely it will bring shines to those elderly and disabled! They can now mobile with confidence and safely too!

I wish there is one in Malaysia. Nevertheless, please visit NMEDA and on the homepage, hit the ‘locate a dealer’ and type in your ZIP code and see if there is a qualified dealer near you.

Do share with me your experience working with the NMEDA teams if you did so… thanking you in advance! *grin*
